Great show, as always. Seeing Tim was a nice surprise, his review was a bit drier than yours, Steve, though still great for a first-timer :P

i think were seeing the kings of phones nokia and sony ericcson really lacking that style and finishing touches that used to make people say wow. its sad that even the original iphone is beating these newer nokia devices still.
i was gonna get the X6 then read reviews i got turned off the idea very quickly sad really :(

Great review Tim, but please look at the camera for the next video!

Good review, well done.

What about the Xperia X10? It’s currently launching (at least here in Japan) Will you do a review soon?

A really enjoyable edition of the show for 2 reasons.
1. – You confirm that the X6 is rubbish.
2. Tims excellent debut video proving what a great asset he is to the show. Look forward to future video reviews by Tim.

Good effort Tim.
I have to correct you on the FOTA update as the Desire does indeed use it, so no need to connect to PC to perform a firmware update. I’m surprised you missed that detail!

@irgendwerjoker Yes, it’s next on my list!

nice one, watch out steve, by the way thanks for the x6 review thats made my mind up NOT to buy one, ill stick with my 5800 and my samsung omnia pro 7610, by the way when you gonna review the samsung, its not good out the box but with enough 3rd party software its getting there ie spb mobile shell

Well in Tim. Bit long though.
Big U2 fan Steve? I Fall Down is a right oldie

Good first attempt Tim if a little verbose. Both reviews seemed to suffer from changeable lightening though.
Steve, that bit when you took the back off the X6 made me cringe, thats not going to last 5mins!
hmm tough choice nexus one or desire I imagine (for me) it will come down to availability and price.
Good show looking forward to next weeks Phones Show Chat.

@grahamlovett Alas both reviews were done under sunny but changeable skies – the sun literally was in for 20 seconds and then out for 20 seconds – utterly impossible to film consistently! 8-( Still – this is the UK and we’re simply glad to have any sun!

Another great, content-packed episode. Bravo Tim! You both make a pretty dynamic duo. I think you could divide the smartphone world between yourselves covering both Symbian and Android regularly. I’m looking forward to Tim’s comparison of HTC’s Desire vs. Legend in one of the coming shows. Congratulations to both of you!

I have the Desire and IMHO it’s the better phone at least here in Finland where the Google voice implementations doesn’t work.
And I’ve heard that the Desire has a bit faster clock on the CPU, you guys heard anything about this? My Desires CPU peaks @ 998 mHz
And the Desires back cover is as solid as a rock, at least in my phone. No sqeeks or flimsy feelings there. The speaker is the biggest problem of the device. If it only had those X6 speakers…. :]

Congrats Tim for your first and so in depth straight face off review about Nexus One and Desire. Your review forced me to get back to the Nexus One as once again Desire is not available for USA 3G but I am waiting for the biggie THE HTC EVO 4G that releasing in June 1st week as I have excellent 4G/WiMax coverage here in Philadelphia,USA so I am getting it on launch date but till then I want to hear from you about Xperia X10 as it does support USA 3G. 8-)

Tim, that’s a really excellent summary of the two phones. Very balanced I think and factually right AFAIK. Didn’t think was too verbose, clearly spoken and useful. Cheers.

Haha Steve, my 5800′s back cover actually started to creak in exactly the same place as your X6 after a few rounds of prying it off the phone. But oh boy, the way the X6′s back cover needs to be literally peeled off sure looks scary :/

Great review of the HTC Desire Tim, I agreed with most of your views there. A few things id add about the Desire;
The operating speed is phenomenal,
Vlingo (look it up, its awesome!) is very much the equal of googles voice to text ability,
The optical trackball is far more reliable IMO, the G2 Hero i had started to lose sensitivity on the trackball after only 3-4 months.
As for the over the air updates, its my understanding that the Desire has that capability as well?

Now that’s HTC vs HTC, Nokia is out of competition :-(
