I know that when taking pictures it means how long the shutter is exposed for, for example, is the shutter speed was set to 1/500, the shutter would be exposed for 1 500th of a second.
But how exactly does it work with video?
I’ve seen it on my camcorder. It can go up to like 1/8000th.

When using the fujifilm S602z camera in manual mode, when i adjust the shutter speed to be over 1/50 the image is very dark. I have changed the apature to the lowest possible setting. Am I missing something ?

I need one to build a machine which can take photos of envelopes which fall, and read data from the pictures(barcode). So it has to have a good sensor to get some quality in the photo and probably be able to take photos at 1/4000 shutter speed or something like that. The shutter must last for 1 MILLION photos. Any ideas?
