Phoneage – A Message To Nokia
This is a message to Nokia regarding the Nokia N97 and the new Nokia N900. The amount of bugs from the N97 have actually driven some dedicated and loyal Nokia fans away from the company. Nokia has lost a reported 6000000 in the past 3 months, and it is speculated that some of the profit loss was due to the N97′s sale performance and feedback. @bogdanstana Hey Bogdan, I’m gonna answer in english, maybe more people will find what I say useful:
Deci:
I owned N95, N95 8GB and these were my options:
N86: basically an updated N95, better screen, camera, software.
reason why I didn’t buy: For the price it wasn’t that much of a difference from the N95, plus I wanted a querty keyboard
N97: Touchscreen, more memory, qwerty, widget based standby screen(I later upgraded did feature as a must for me)

@bogdanstana part 2(not enough space):
reason why I didn’t buy N97:
not enough RAM, not enough internal memory(can’t use nokia messaging properly) problems with gps, camera lens cover(you can go to nokia and get that fixed for free but…. NO)
N97 mini: basically the same as N97 but with less memory(8GB instead of 32), smaller screen, but a lot of the bugs fixed(internal memory, gps, camera lens cover)

@bogdanstana part 4: If you want something more advanced, if you like to tweak and hack and mess around with your device than N900

fair play. Nokia fanbots should admit it has problems, so nokia would pull out the finger and do something about it. 100% agree aswell, nokia should take some time and make some proper devices, as alot of them just look rreally rushed out versions. i had huge respect to bokia, i even had nokia 1611! it was a beast! but now they dropped ball with quality

Hey Ionut,
Thank’s a lot for all your advices . I prefer the last option , the n900 but someone else said that Maemo5 (N900) is still very young and is quite clunky. how long do you use the n900 ? are you still confident that was the right choice? I really don’t now what to do. I think i will wait until autumn, hoping Nokia will make the “perfect device”. i know that the chance is minimum but the hope die last

@bogdanstana For me yes, but using it as a phone is a bit hard AND not a lot of apps. but i like it

Have you used the N900, its lightning quick to do everything, good screen quality the keyboard is really easy, multi-tasking, no bugs either. Significantly better than the N97

when i bought the n900 in january. i update it and the device was Fu@#! UP
when i went to nokia to fix it they broke it and scratch it… i end up fighting with the manager… he said I Scratch it !! but i gave it to him in a cover and it was in NEW condition…. anyway he gave me a new one BUT THIS time the FM transmitter was not working ( DISABLED message keep coming ) so i hacked it to open the FM transmitter just because if i took it there they might fuc@ed it up again !
NO NOKIA anymore

All I can say Nokia replace symbian with maemo frankly nokia, it’s time to wipe that symbian right of your shoes.
Nokia maemo is simply superior all maemo needs is separate tab for your current tasks running and for the applications to be organized by category and finally bring java to maemo

Well said, even though I kinda like n900, I didn’t buy it. Getting ripped off by n97 was enough.
