This is JesuOtaku’s review of BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. BECK is produced by Madhouse and available from Funimation. This review is unofficial and entirely silly to boot. All media is used for purposes of review and commentary under terms of fair use. Software I employ, if you’re curious: Sony Vegas for editing. It’s pretty smexy. I also use AutoGK and various AVS programs for encoding and converting different sources. They’re pretty cool, too. For once I’m actually happy with how this came out on a technical level. I was worried the sound mixing was going to be annoying because there’s a music bed in many places here rather than a dialogue bed, but it sounds great, and I changed the shadow on the text so that it looks better. (I should have done that a long time ago.) That’s my sister at the beginning there, and she’s awesome. There is nothing more to say. Oh, well, that and if there is one character in all of anime I feel is most like myself…it’s probably Maho from BECK. She’s a film lover, loves to sing, has the same taste in fashion as myself, speaks the same way, (Brina Palencia’s rendition of her, anyway,) and has an eerie amount of the same tics. I was continually freaked out by how much it felt like looking in a mirror when I watched scenes with Maho in them. Aaaaand I actually got a DVD of the show signed by Greg Ayres at a con. It’s pretty wicked. I’m a total nerd, yes. EDIT: I don’t know how accurate this is, but this has exactly 1000 views as of June 17! Cool!
