convert video 8 into VCR or digital?
Hi. I have some home video tapes from about 1995. The video recorder says Video 8. The size is about the same as an audio cassete. I cannot play the cassette through the player, I assume it is damaged, however I know you can buy a special converted VCR casette which open in the middle and you place the home video casette inside? I hope you underdstand what I mean? If you have any sites which can help please point me into UK sites which will be easier to purchase… thank you very much.

Hi markwilliamsuk,
I don’t think there is a cassette available that holds 8MM. There was one for a mini VHS tape. It worked exactly as you described. It was only available for the mini VHS.
Go to a local camera store and rent an 8MM player or camera. Hook that to your home recorder and make a copy of your tape.
Alternately you can have the camera store copy the 8mm to VHS or DVD.
Good luck,
Norm
