Classic Game Room HD – TOKYO XTREME RACER 3 for PS2 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews TOKYO XTREME RACER 3 for the Playstation 2. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 on PS2 is a driving/combat/strategy game where players race against rival gangs with silly names on the highways of Japan. Unlike previous games in the series, Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 has roads winding through the freeway systems of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. They all look pretty similar though, dark with some neon on buildings. Even though TXR3 is technically a driving game the game’s strength is in the competition, customization and highly addictive gameplay. Drive cars from major manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai. Win money and supercharge them with 600 hp engines and get sucked into the addiction that is Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. Even if the game is impossible to finish (because of a glitch), for a reasonable price you’ll get weeks of enjoyment and competition from this sub par driving game that is a wildly fun highway combat game. This CGR review of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 has gameplay from the PS2 version of Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 on Playstation 2.

You… don’t really know the concept of driving / racing, do you? It’s “go fast, don’t crash…” (And yeah, you CAN win against that Silvia in a WRX STi, you just have to be able to drive straight)

i cant belive i never saw them use the overboost setup were you cna overboost the turbo for a short time lol thats the only way i could race on that crap

@mmutasim2 I heard some of the guys in those divisions use to be Wangan Racers themselves, I’ve seen several R34′s caught by undercover NSX’s.

Uh dude youre supposed to turn in the corners early then minimize your throttle to drift you cant say the physics sucks.

@TheFlight815 Actually, you’re wrong. They don’t call them by chassis number in Japan. They did that in the earlier games so they wouldn’t have to pay for the license.

@LFSvidMan Have you played this game before? If you have, then you would know that almost no starter car can flat out out-run Dejected Angel (that white Silvia), especially if you start out in Tokyo (like he obviously did.) Now, if he was using an upgraded WRX STi with parts unlocked later in the game, then he could out-run the Silvia, easily.

@Logan912 funny how things go, re-beaten the game recently (thus why youtubed it). And yeah, I’ve started in tokyo, with a 300zx 2by2, and beaten the Dejected Angel (and then went on with that car to beat nagoya and osaka first tier, nagoya and osaka second tier after a I6 turbo swap. And at no point in the entire game did I have to revert to such cheap maneuvers as blocking the path and ramming. And mind you a WRX is not a starter, you unlock it. Besides you don’t know if it’s stock…

@Logan912 I driven a Car before and I know how to play this game youre supposed to turn in 5 feet away from the turn to avoid scraping a wall. The physics arent great but its good.

@LFSvidMan True. What can I say though? This game is just too d**m fun. I just restarted today and I’m going to try to beat the entire game with a Toyota Chaser (except for certain wanderer requirements of course.) I started in Nagoya, then Osaka, now I’m working on Tokyo and I’ve just beaten Jackknife. I’m going to destroy Dejected Angel :) Maybe Mark just sucks at driving in this game. At first, I had to block a little, but now I outrun everyone. It looks like Mark hasn’t gotten to stage 2 yet

Ive never really thought about that. I have loved TXR ever since it came out. The cars handle like crap and the scenery is pretty terrbile. But I could play this game until time stops.

hey this game is awsome man. ima big fan and u gotta stop hatin, tokyo extreme racer and txrd one and two are amazing. import tuner challenge is amazing and so is street supremacy

Even the game has been released 7 years, I’m still addicted to it! That’s really a cool game. I’d wonder why the game producer, GENKI not published the Tokyo Xtreme Racer X on PS3. At least you should put the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series on PS3! I’ve been waiting for that time for so long…… Now I could just play my Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 in my PS3 & waiting for that time comes.

Hey man, you can finish tokyo extreme racer 3 i did, you have to beat all wanderes…but heres the tricky part… you have to have “certain” parts on your car for wanderes to appear out of no where, Like a certain rim, certain liscence plate number, or for example being in a old mazda while it’s raining …and so on, Theres a active guide and forum on people who finished this game..
Also if you check the rivals profile gives you a clue to what you need to do for your car so you can race them.

You cannot race the wanderer Whirlwind Fanfare in the NA version and you need to defeat her to race the last boss. When the game was localized, they changed the currency to dollars, but the wanderers that required a certain amount of money to race still have the Yen amounts, which is one more digit than the NA version goes up to. I had to buy a codebreaker to race that one wanderer.
