Asus G73JH Intel X25m G2 SSD and Windows 7 Boot Up, Shutdown, Restart, PhotoShop 7 Open Video
This video shows my Asus G73JH with an Intel 160GB X25m Generation 2 SSD and Windows 7 booting up and shutting down a couple of times, starting Photoshop 7 as soon as the desktop comes up. Also shows a restart. Very snappy system. You can see my C: drive is not bare as about 35% is used. i7 720QM ATI 5870m 8GB DDR3 1333 Intel x25m G2 Thanks for watching. @blixexxx000 Don’t remember. Google ‘Evangeline Lilly poster’. That was from her Maxim photoshoot.

Is the Alienware m17x more powerful than the Asus G73JH ?
or is ther any othere better one ?
Looking to buy a powerful gaming Laptop
Thanks
QuagmireLXIX on April 26, 2010 at 12:56 am
@ilordvader All depends on your budget. You can put dual VGAs in a M17x so you can certainly config it to be more powerful, it also has a sweet RGB LED screen, but be prepared for sticker shock. For those prices, also look at Clevo branded notebooks. What you won’t find is the hardware the G73 offers for the price (excluding Neweggs gouging).

QuagmireLXIX on April 29, 2010 at 10:24 am

@ilordvader At this moment, I believe the new processor of this Asus G73 is faster than what the current outdated alienware m17x processor. Another advantage of Asus G73 is that it’s way more affordable than the alienware. Alienware tends to be quite over priced =p
ilordvader on May 1, 2010 at 11:54 am
@wpinoyfcw
I agree AW is over priced & doesnt have Wide screen & no Usb 3.0 :(
but still it will be powerful when the dual 5870s is out on it
wish the G73 comes out with a new G73- A3 with Usb 3.0 :)

I put an G.Skill Phoenix SSD in my Asus G73 and I don’t get that speed of start-up does anyone know why?
QuagmireLXIX on May 25, 2010 at 11:39 am
@john0022 Make sure you’re on ACHI. What is your WEI score for SSD? How many seconds does it take to boot? How much bloatware do you have on the G73?
john0022 on May 25, 2010 at 11:53 am
@QuagmireLXIX my wei score is 7.6 and its taking at least 35 seconds on average to boot and 12 seconds to shut-down. I have everything that came with the computer except for those crappy games, I kept all the asus files. Is this the correct thing to do
QuagmireLXIX on May 25, 2010 at 12:15 pm
@john0022 The WEI score is good, not that WEI is tell all, but if you were doing a low 7 or less, it would indicate an issue. The SandForce controller whould be around 7.7.
Compared to me, you boot 9sec and shutdown 5sec slower which can be attributed to soft/bloatware.
QuagmireLXIX on May 25, 2010 at 12:18 pm
@john0022 My C drive is far from bare, I have the standard apps that any pc user would want to run and I didn’t have anything off for the purpose of the video. I did a clean install and put only the apps I wanted on it instead of the full monty that it comes loaded with. Look for Kalims clean install guide at NBR and find out the crap you don’t want and unload some of the services that take boot time.
john0022 on May 25, 2010 at 9:00 pm
@QuagmireLXIX How did you change your SSD to make sure that your running under ACHI? and in other words you kept all your asus files on your computer that came with the computer?
QuagmireLXIX on May 26, 2010 at 3:32 am
@john0022 It’s ACHI by default, but check BIOS/Advanced/Sata Configuration.
Don’t look for “other words”, read the ones I typed “I did a clean install and put only the apps I wanted on it instead of the full monty that it comes loaded with.”
john0022 on May 26, 2010 at 5:33 am
@QuagmireLXIX Thank you very much for helping me, I checked and you were right that it is set by default, much appreciated. Hopefully I can get better performance :)
QuagmireLXIX on June 7, 2010 at 8:16 pm
@ElroyHarvey I can say a reboot takes 30 seconds here, but with a spinner come as you are, it took 79 seconds.
Cant’ help you with the second part.
