Asus G73JH Battlefield Bad Company 2 in the White, Gunplay and Vehicle Chase ATI 5870m i7 720QM
Thisvideo shows an Asus G73JH RoG gaming laptop running Battlefield Bad Company 2 in the White. Gunplay and vehicle chase. I just got it, so I haven’t found the settings sweet spot yet, but wanted to keep my word and get some video up. This is with the 10.3 preview drivers and stock GPU clocks of 700×1000. FRAPS is running as it will be in all my game videos. I did not use Asus Twin Turbo. i7 720QM ATI 5870m 8GB DDR3 1333 Intel x25m G2 Thanks for watching. Join us at the Notebook Review Forums. Q

Is there a reason you choose medium settings?
Would it maintain 30+ fps on high settings?
QuagmireLXIX on March 6, 2010 at 12:00 pm
All High was not smooth, I went all MED and found smoothness and now it’s just a matter of what I can push back up. Now that I know what HBAO is, I’ll start there. See other BC2 video comments.

can u set the resolution to 720p and put every thing on high ?
johnrehak on March 6, 2010 at 11:08 pm
5870m is the greatest laptop GPU, but it can not match to desktop GPUs. Power of ati desktop 5750 alias mobile 5870 is to low to play smoth games on 1920×1080 in higher ressolutions than medium.

Yes, I’ll get back to you on it, either by comment or video.

30 fps is that not laggy?
QuagmireLXIX on March 8, 2010 at 4:30 am
Not sure where you’re getting 30FPS, I literally only seen that number once towards the end. The average of the entire video would be mid to high 40′s imo. If you were avg 30FPS, yes, it would suck and would likely get you killed a lot in MP.

how do you turn on the fps indicator?
theexperimentmakers on March 8, 2010 at 4:45 pm
looks like end of call of duty 4 with helicopter but with snow
QuagmireLXIX on March 8, 2010 at 10:04 pm
It’s not part of the game. Go to FRAPSdotCOM, d/l the program and run it. They have very clear instructions on their site.

a hurry up to shoot someone in the head with a pistol while they hold a hostage as a shield is familiar also ;)

Great videos man, could you record yourself playing some 32 player online? smooth performance their would be damn impressive. Thanks.
QuagmireLXIX on March 11, 2010 at 11:55 pm
It’s going to be a while, but I’ll get to it when I can.
QuagmireLXIX on March 13, 2010 at 11:25 pm
Just to be on the side of caution, I do not suggest any preview drivers. Even though my temps did not change at all between Asus 9.12 and ATI 10.3P, some people report a temp increase. I suggest we stick with only the Asus video drivers and hopefully they will stay on top of that.

without fraps does it run a bit smoother or faster?
QuagmireLXIX on March 14, 2010 at 7:22 pm
the fraps counter means nothing to the game performance, totally negligible
LamboFreak4ever on March 16, 2010 at 5:21 pm
it is weird that the medium quality looks very good, like the quality on ps3 or X360.
BlehBluHBloh on March 21, 2010 at 8:44 pm
How are the temps like while playing this game for a longer while ? I really need to know as I might be buying an Asus G73JH x1
QuagmireLXIX on March 21, 2010 at 11:18 pm
@BlehBluHBloh 73F ambient produced mid to high 70sC on gpu, low 80sC on VRAM, low 50sC i7 cores, ballparkish.
zustLoj on March 27, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Great vid, man! Im so getting this laptop… BTW why don’t you use the scope?
QuagmireLXIX on March 28, 2010 at 12:21 am
@zustLoj Thanks. I use the ACOG at 49 seconds taking down 3 enemies.

hey Quagmire,
you made some really nice vids, and the info you give, its all very helpfull…
One thing though, and you may laugh bout this, but what do the numbers mean in ”stock gpu clocks 700×1000” ?
will enjoy your future vids no doubt ;).
QuagmireLXIX on April 1, 2010 at 8:21 pm
@Oriontothesun Thank you. I wouldn’t laugh, it’s a perfectly reasonable question.
The 2 main clocks (measured in MHz) that are associated with VGA cards are Core and Memory (aka VRAM). The 700MHz is the core clock and this is the most important for overclocking performance. The 1000MHz (or 1GHz) is the gpus memory clock which has a similar relationship to the GPU like your system memory has to your CPU.
QuagmireLXIX on April 1, 2010 at 8:22 pm
Continued @Oriontothesun “Stock” means these are the clocks that the VGA card is designed by the manufacturer to run at and to “Overclock” means you are increasing those numbers.
QuagmireLXIX on April 9, 2010 at 8:46 pm
@MrMagicMushroom I should have some MP videos up within a week. Thanks for your patience.
